Protecto
A downloadable game
Protecto is a multiplayer embodied game, where you use your body to trace a shield layer and let plants grow. A mix of seeds and acid rain may fall. You need to decide strategically how to draw the shield using your body. Initially, the game was designed to work in an exhibition, using Leap Motion. However with advances in this area, the development is now paused, but we may be able to use the player's camera to 'draw' the shields. The idea is to understand how co-located interactions may make people think of protecting nature and letting it thrive without much interference.
The game loop is: draw, protect, and ask for help from others to draw another line/arch.
Mechanics:
- The roots of the plants touch each other so they become stronger. If a raindrop falls into a crop (yellow) the crop dies.
- The protective layers have a lifetime.
- The player has a specific time to draw the layer which can be a line or arch.
- The seeds (white dots) need to touch the ground to grow.
